The layers of these games are just one of the reasons Pokemon is a cultural landmark. The devs have been stoic benefactors to us fans the whole way. I was just as happy as a child not understanding the nuances. It can be played from so many different perspectives, with different intentions, there is something for everyone to enjoy; a wholesome activity that has done more to unite humanity than any government.

That "running increases encounter rate" thing has been there since original gold and silver because I've only played up to gen 3 and clearly remembering it on a sign board as well, so I tried and tested it a few times and seems to be true, just never did the math or thought of it until now. That being said, running in caves and such also increases encounter rate as well.

Im sso glad that gyrados respawning is true. I remember on my cureent save of heartgold i had accidentally killed mine. But some how after doing that managed to find a wild shiny furret in the safari zone. It was a funny story to have. But now knowing i can reget the shiny gyrados, i plan to hunt and get one thats perfect, it deserves to be as powerful as it can after all these years, waiting to be caught in the lake once more.
